Various robes are worn by various orders of church and
clergy folk.
The cassock or "pidriasnyk" may be worn by all from the accolyte to the
bishop inclusive. It is an undergarment to be worn under liturgical
vestments These are the liturgical vestments that are worn: The subdeacon
wears a special sticharion with no orarion.
The deacon wears a special sticharion, orarion and maniples.
The priest wears a special sticharion, epitrachelion, maniples, belt and
phelonion - and sometimes special side symbols as awards.
The bishop wears the same, except that the phelonion is replaced by a
sakkos. On occasion he wears a mantia.
The liturgical headgear is: priests may wear a skufia, kamilavka or mitre
depending on his rank; the bishop wears a klobuk when not celebrating a
liturgy. When he celebrates he wears a mitre.
These names are mostly Ukrainian usage with some Greek. Other Orthodox
cultures have different words for these items.
