11. Data recovery
Database file data corruption could occur due to many reasons, such as hard disk failure, power loss or improper operating system shutdown.
Should any file become corrupted, you will be informed in one of two ways:
- The program will start, but you will get an error message when you try to make entries.
- The program will not start.
If the program has started and you get an error message, you should go to the main menu and click on 'Backup' and then chose either 'Recovery' or 'Repair corrupt files'. If you chose 'Repair' you may end up by restoring all files. 'Recovery' will restore the files as they were at the last backup.
On the other hand, before doing either 'Recovery' or 'Repair', you should go to the appointment window and click on 'Print work history'. This will permit you to see and print most if not all transactions you recently recorded before corruption occurred. You can thus minimize or eliminate any data lose.
